Post-It Phrase of the Day: “The discontent and frustration that you feel is entirely your own creation.” – Stephen Richards
Briana posted this lovely note!
Jessi wrote, “On April 1st, I had something terrible happen to me. My body was violated and I was sexually abused. The next day at school, I was crying all morning, feeling disgusting and terribly awful about myself. When I went into the bathroom between classes to wipe away my tears, I saw post-it notes all over the mirror in the shape of a smiley face, each telling me how beautiful I was. Again, I started crying, but this time they were tears of joy. Operation Beautiful gave me the strength to smile despite what had happened. I know that I am beautiful, and that some wonderful stranger in my school was there for me. It was an amazing coincidence and since then, I have begun putting up post-it notes on every mirror I see, hoping I can impact some stranger in the positive, life-saving way that I was impacted in. Thank you, Operation Beautiful for saving me from self-hatred, and making me see myself for the beautiful person I am.”
Elizabeth said, “Me and a few friends painted this in the girls bathroom at school right above the mirrors.”
Becca wrote, “I am doing my student teaching and today I taught on body image and the media’s influence. We decided to do an Operation Beautiful activity. I gave each of the students sticky notes and they filled our hallway with them. I had students coming in after the first class period so excited to spread the sticky notes. A few students took the sticky notes home to spread the love on the bus and at home.”
… And Jessica FOUND the notes that Becca’s class posted! She said, “I was walking out to my classroom today I came across these stickies and had to take a few pictures. Our high school has had a very rough year with two students in life-altering car accidents, two suicides, and a drug overdose. It was wonderful to see uplifting messages spread around the hall. The inspiration elves got all the mirrors, exterior doors, and the girls bathroom door in our small hall.”
Summer is an OPERATION BEAUTIFUL NINJA who sends in dozens of Operation Beautiful notes all the time. Here are a few of her more recent ones!
