Transforming the way you see yourself one post-it note at a time
As soon as I saw Operation Beautiful I knew I wanted to be a part of this cause. It inspired me to see so many girls trying to spread beauty. I actually found this website looking up pictures about EndFatTalk.Org, and I loved how there were even more websites to promote beauty. The day I found this website I went home and bought sticky notes and posted them around school, and today I was talking to one of my friends and I said, “You really are beautiful!” and she said, “Was that you who posted those notes? I smiled when I read it and it really did make me feel better!”
I’m proud the notes have already made a difference
Great idea. I’m glad that so many people are jumping on board as well.
As a male, I had my first exposure to eating disorders when I went to college. I never realized how difficult it was for some of my female classmates to deal with their physical identity. I even found myself having to have the difficult talk with someone I suspected had an eating disorder. In the end she thanked me for caring enough to say something, but I also thanked her for letting me into her world and educating me on what she was going through.
Now I have my own daughter, and I can only hope that she grows up secure and proud of her own image no matter what it may be.
