  1. I think this is a subject that definitely needs to be put out there for all young women and girls. I remember when I started my first period, my mother was too embarrassed to talk to me about it. She never explained what was happening to my body, she just pointed under the sink where she kept the Kotex, and I had to figure out what to do. I thought that an everyday thing for life. I remember thinking I could never go swimming again.

  2. Seeing the subjects of women’s health and their experiences being talked about in the open gives me hope. I have three daughters, the oldest is now entering puberty at 10. I try to keep a very open platform for open discussion and questions about what she is starting to go through.

When I was growing up, there was no such discussion about anything relating to women’s health with my mother. There was an honest to God stigmata attached to anything to do with my or other’s bodies that she tried to pass on to me. Thankfully, I never let it attach.

It’s great to see open and honest discussions backed by fact!!! What a wonderful time for my girls to be growing up!
