Jillian wrote, “A few weeks ago I was doing the most dreaded thing ever and weighing myself in the gym locker room at Work out World in Edison, NJ. I’ve been frustrated logging long hours on the tread mill every day and to see the number on the scale hadn’t budged was a huge set back. My confidence and how I’m feeling has always been linked to the number on the scale so that moment in particular made me want to cry. That is, until I noticed a little note on the left side of the scale. It said, "love yourself", something I clearly hadn’t been doing. I just wanted to thank the person who wrote the note. I needed the reminder. Since the weeks I’ve seen the note I’ve done a better job being positive about what ever number I see on the scale. After all, it’s just a number. Consequently ever since then I finally started to lose weight. I don’t think it’s a coincidence! Anyways, thanks again for the note to whoever wrote it. It stayed on the scale for weeks, I’m sure letting other women smile and remember something very important.”

Sara wrote, “Left my first Operation Beautiful notes today.  The ones on mirrors are in public restrooms at stores in town. There is… a weird self-consciousness to these first notes.  Am I being presumptuous?  Am I doing something wrong by leaving sticky notes in these places?  Is this any of my business?  But then I think, how would I react if I found one of these?  I’m not a terribly touchy-feely sort of person normally; a lot of "inspirational" stories and quotes just make me roll my eyes or start arguing with the sentiments they express.  But these random little sticky notes?  I would totally smile, in a good way, and my day would get that touch lighter.  So I leave the notes and hope that other people will feel the same.”

Lisa wrote, “The Semi Colon project is about suicide awareness.  A semi colon is the point in the sentence when the writer could have ended the sentence, but chose to go on.  The  picture is of my daughters wrist.  Her and her friends are ‘wearing’ semi colons to start conversations about suicide and hopefully engage someone who might be at the end of their sentence.”

home.and we will overcome this because us together are strong. Just hold your head up high, keep a smile on, and continue to stay strong!”

Anonymous wrote, “I was at my local gym and went to step on the scale and this great, positive note was hanging on the scale.  I don’t remember what it said, but it made my day.  The website was listed on the bottom of the note.  A few days later I went to the site and decided to leave my own note.  I did, and oddly enough, one of my Facebook friends found it. She took a picture of it and pasted it on FB.  To this day, she doesn’t know I put that note up there, but I loved actually being able to see the impact a few positive words made on her day and on everyone that she shared it with as well.  I love what this is doing for women everywhere!”

Vivian, who just turned 13 (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!) wrote, “When I saw ALL the post it notes in my school and read JUST ONE, I was so happy and felt happy. Because those notes had to do with something that had gotten stuck with me at the start of middle school, INSECURITY. I would compare myself to almost every single girl I saw because they had something I didn’t. It’s gotten better, but still I’m cursed with it.”  She has been posting notes now all over the place!

I inquired about their project, thinking they were celebrating May Day. They handed me this rose and card and shared a little about Operation Beautiful. Great project!”
